New study shows link between avocados and heart health

by admin

We all understand that our diet is important to our health. How important are specific foods? Researchers are constantly researching which diets can improve heart health. Recent research suggests that avocados can help prevent cardiovascular disease, and improve heart health.

Avocados contain healthy oils, fats and vitamins. A 30-year study of over 110 000 people without a history of heart disease focused on this. In conclusion, approximately 11% of people went on to develop cardiovascular disease. The study found that participants who ate 2 servings of avocado per day, or about one whole avocado each day, were 21% less susceptible to a heart attack.

These findings confirm that eating avocados instead of regular foods high in cholesterol and fatty meats will reduce your risk of developing heart disease. The results show that people can not only identify the foods they should eliminate from their diet but also which foods are best to add in.

Avocados and Diet Changes

The study highlights the benefits of including avocados in a healthy diet. Even adding a portion of avocados to your diet instead of other fatty food will reduce the overall risk of heart disease. The study found that when combined with a Mediterranean diet, heart disease rates for women and men dropped dramatically.

Health Benefits of Avocados

Avocados have many health benefits. The study also found that substituting half a portion of processed meats or margarine with avocado can reduce cardiovascular disease risk by 16-22%. Avocado should be consumed in conjunction with other healthy foods such as fruits, berries and essential oils. Vegetables and lean meats like fish and chicken are also recommended.

Avocados are a healthy alternative to many other fatty foods. They also offer doctors and physicians a new recommendation for patients who have heart disease, or who may be at risk of heart disease. It’s always important to consult your doctor before changing your diet.
